Day 2 Prompt: Write about one piece of technology that you would like to try this year, and why. You might also write about what you’re hoping to see out of this edtech integration.
I can’t say that there is just one piece of technology that I’d like to try this year — unless you count the relatively new Promethean board in my room. In past years, my board has been a virtual dinosaur, and behaved as such, so I’m excited about being able to use the board every day, all day.
Generally speaking though, I am wanting to see an integration of technology that will allow my students to reach out into the world beyond our four walls and speak with other students like themselves, ask questions of their favorite authors in real time via social media, and submit their work in such a way that it’s a bit easier for me to handle (as opposed to carting home boxes of essays).
I am planning to play this all by ear, as opportunities to plug in relevant technologies present themselves. So I’ll have to keep you updated on my progress. That said, if anyone of you has experience using technology in a middle school English or Literature classroom, please share. I’d love to hear your stories!
